Restoration and Conservation of Sensitive Forest Areas in Lebanon

 

 

Achievements:

  • Restoration of 50 ha of damaged lands in South Lebanon based on pre-assessment in cooperation with local authorities
  • Provide monitoring equipment to the forest guard, army, civil defense and forest fire fighting tools for local AFDC units
  • Design and implement a training program on forest management and forest fire fighting and control addressing the civil defense, forest guards and volunteers
  • Raise awareness among local communities about forest fires and prevention issues
  • Update the national database for forest fires with forest guards and civil defense  
  • Conduct an assessment about the current status of forests in Lebanon in general and in the South in specific to produce the State of the Forests Report.
